PEORIA COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZES GILFILLAN WITH DISTINGUISHED COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

At the Peoria County Bar Association’s annual Lincoln Memorial banquet on February 20, 2025, Quinn Johnston partner, Mitch Gilfillan, was named the Distinguished Community Service Award winner. The event, which celebrates Abraham Lincoln’s legacy, was held at the Par-a-Dice Hotel in East Peoria. The PCBA has approximately 435 members.

The award was presented by Tenth Judicial Circuit Court Chief Judge, Katherine S. Gorman. Chief Judge Gorman recognized Gilfillan’s community service and volunteerism, specifically mentioning his roles as OSF St. Francis Children’s Hospital of Illinois board president, past president of the Pediatric Resource Center, past president of the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service, board member of the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions, Peoria County Bar Association board member, Heart of Illinois United Way campaign committee member, board member for the Public Interest Law Initiative out of Chicago, Peoria Notre Dame Youth Softball League board member, Peoria County Election Judge, and a volunteer coach for both of his daughters, Hadley and Harper’s, sports teams.

“We have a tremendous bar association that is professional and civil towards one another. I am humble and grateful for this honor,” said Gilfillan. As part of his law practice, Gilfillan has also performed hundreds of hours of pro bono service serving clients across Illinois which earned him statewide recognition in 2020 with the John C. McAndrews Pro Bono award from the Illinois State Bar Association.
