Illinois Paid Leave to Vote Law

As November 4, 2014 nears, employers are reminded about an important Illinois law requiring employers to give employees paid leave to vote. An employer must permit a two-hour absence during working hours if anemployee’s working hours begin less than two hours after the opening of the polls and end less than two hours before the closing of the polls.

 

Defense Verdict for Fortune 500 Construction Company

After a six-day trial, Adam Chaddock obtained a defense verdict for a client accused of negligently erecting a scaffold in a nuclear power plant. The jury rejected Plaintiff’s request for damages from $8 million to $10 million, instead returning a verdict in favor of the Defendant in 28 minutes. Michael Mersot second chaired the case.

 

2014 Annual Business and Tax Seminar

Registration for the 2014 Annual Business and Tax Seminar is open until November 14, 2014. There is no fee for attending the event. Participants will benefit from five presentations regarding current developments and new trends in the area of business and tax law. Participants may earn up to 3.5 credits in Business Law, and CLE accreditation is pending.
